Karim S. Jamal, M.D., FRCPC, is a board-certified primary care physician at Baptist Health Primary Care | FIU. He specializes in health promotion, disease prevention, health maintenance, patient education and the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic illnesses. Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Jamal was an emergency medicine physician at Ascension St Vincent’s Riverside in Jacksonville, Fla., and served as the campus’ assistant quality medical director and the citywide lead physician for sepsis care. Dr. Jamal earned his medical degree at Queen's University Medical School in Kingston, Ontario. He completed an internal medicine residency and an internal medicine clinical fellowship at the University of Calgary in Alberta. He is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada. To provide compassionate, patient-centered care, Dr. Jamal takes time to listen to his patients, obtain a complete medical history, conduct a thorough physical examination, offer education and encourage open communication. Using evidence-based medicine, he creates a personalized care plan to achieve the best outcome for each patient.    Throughout his career, Dr. Jamal has been committed to educating the next generation of clinicians and has received several awards for his excellence in teaching, mentoring and exemplary commitment to the education of medical students. He currently serves as an assistant professor at the Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University. During his free time, Dr. Jamal enjoys hot yoga, tennis, boating, fishing, trying new restaurants, traveling and anything to do with nature.
